The CRF 450 SMT is equipped with a Suter slipper clutch to prevent rear wheel instability and hopping during braking at the apex of a corner, allowing total control and perfect drifting. This clutch reduces the rider’s physical effort and improves lap times.
The CRF 450 SMT also features a custom Suter engine cover with exceptional strength that protects the engine in the event of a crash. It is hard-anodized for extreme abrasion resistance and improved heat dissipation, and CNC-machined from high-strength aircraft-grade aluminum.
Integrated seamlessly with the frame design, the Geco Special Parts billet Ergal fork clamps with a 15 mm offset boast precisely calculated geometry for extraordinary stability, specifically designed for supermoto use. The upper triple clamp ensures smooth fork action and plays a key role in maintaining perfect front wheel alignment for superior handling.
The CRF 450 SMT features 49 mm Showa steel-sprung forks that offer consistent damping thanks to an advanced design. Compression and rebound damping are easily adjustable by hand. The Showa rear shock with Honda Pro-Link® provides excellent initial comfort and predictable performance under all conditions. To allow riders to fine-tune their setup, rebound damping as well as high- and low-speed compression settings can be easily adjusted by hand.
The high-performance hydraulic clutch ensures even wear, virtually maintenance-free operation, and perfect clutch action in any condition. This means that play is continuously compensated, so the pressure point and clutch operation remain consistent in both cold and hot conditions, as well as over time.
Exceptional stopping power is guaranteed by Brembo brakes, featuring radially mounted 4-piston 100 mm monobloc calipers combined with a 320 mm Galfer disc at the front. The rear is equipped with a single-piston caliper and a 240 mm disc. The 16×18 Brembo radial master cylinder ensures optimal braking in all conditions.
The black Bartubeless spoked wheels, 17″ front and 17″ rear, are lightweight and durable thanks to the integrated tubeless system, ensuring reliability and superior performance on and off road. They are fitted with Metzeler Racetec SM slick tires for maximum grip, traction, and agility.
The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system, with three riding modes (plus OFF), minimizes rear wheel slip during acceleration (which causes a loss of drive) and maximizes traction. It does not use wheel speed sensors and maintains an excellent throttle feel. It works by retarding ignition timing and optimizing fuel injection when excessively rapid changes in engine speed are detected.
The HRC Launch Control system with three start options limits the amount of power delivered to the rear wheel, improving traction and preventing loss of control during sudden acceleration. Launch Control automatically deactivates as soon as a gear is changed.
To personalize power delivery, the CRF 450 SMT features three engine maps, including a specific supermoto map with increased rpm and greater engine power, developed and tested on a dyno. Thanks to Honda’s EMSB (Engine Mode Select Button) system, the rider can instantly adapt engine characteristics to track conditions.
The latest-generation quickshifter, equipped with a load cell, ensures smooth and lightning-fast gear changes through bidirectional operation, fully functional both when upshifting and downshifting, maximizing control and clutchless acceleration.
Quickshifter functions can be modified and customized via a dedicated app.
To enhance responsiveness and acceleration, the CRF 450 SMT is equipped with a 15-tooth front sprocket and a 49-tooth rear sprocket, ensuring immediate torque delivery to fully exploit the engine’s power when exiting corners.
